Dow Chemical Joins the Push for Fall Polyethylene Price Increases
September 16, 2022

Another major resin producer is looking to increase Polyethylene prices through October.

In a letter to customers on Monday morning, Dow Chemical and Dow Chemical Canada said they will implement a $.05/lb increase for all Polyethylene in the US and Canada, effective September 1.

The company also said it would increase PE prices in the US and Canada by another $.07/lb effective October 1, as contracts allow.

Dow's combined $.12/lb initiative comes a week after Chevron Phillips Chemical announced a combined $.10/lb increase over September and October.

PE producers have been steadfast in their pricing as they continue to work down the glut of domestic inventories during the tail end of hurricane season in the US Gulf. Producers have cut operating rates in August and into September, which includes Dow's global production cut of 15% announced in late August.
