ExxonMobil Allocates its Polypropylene Resins May 04, 2022
A major North American producer will be allocating its Polypropylene (PP) resin products this week, in a move likely to put further strain on availability alongside a couple of force majeures (FM) already in place.
In a letter to customers on Wednesday, ExxonMobil said it will begin allocating sales of select Polypropylene grades due to its current operational constraints.
The company added that the timing and quality of each product being allocated are still being determined as it will currently assess the full impact to its PP resins.
ExxonMobil's announcement comes as Ineos Olefins & Polymers and LyondellBasell both remain on FM for PP, which were declared in late March. The allocation and FMs also come as producers collectively seek to implement contract price increases of $.06/lb for May.
