Circulus Launches US Operations with its First Post Consumer Resins Plant
November 12, 2021

Circulus, a portfolio company of private equity firm Ara Partners, and a producer of post-consumer recycled LDPE, has launched its US operations today, bringing its first fully operational facility online in Riverbank, California.

The Riverbank facility is designed to produce an excess of 40 million lbs/yr of post-consumer resins (PCR), which it says is equivalent to energy saving of 30 million gallons of gasoline and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 88%, compared to using virgin plastic.

Circulus said it is building out a widespread footprint of plants that utilize technologies with a multistep mechanical process to transform lower grade plastic into resin suitable for a variety of commercial and industrial applications. By expanding its footprint, the company added it is meeting the demand for high-quality PCR by upcycling the US plastic waste into circular, consumer-facing products.

The company added that it also has multiple plants under construction and in development, and it is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by operating facilities that utilize 100% renewable energy, including hydroelectric and wind power, and 85% recycled water.
