Lummus and Braskem Subsidiary Come Together on Green Ethylene Projects
November 08, 2021

Lummus Technology has executed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Braskem's Netherlands subsidiary for the licensing of Braskem's green ethylene technology for two ethanol-to-ethylene conversion projects being developed in North America and Asia.

In addition to the MoU, both companies are discussing a long-term agreement for Lummus to license Braskem's green ethylene technology to accelerate the chemical industry's use of renewable feedstock and fight climate change and convert circular carbon from the atmosphere into plastic as an alternative to oil.

Lummus added that the MoU is in line with its strategic business direction, through its subsidiary Green Circle, to commercialize and develop solutions to help address the energy transition, which includes plastics recycling, production of bio-derived sustainable chemicals, and decarbonization strategies for existing and new assets.
