LyondellBasell Lifts Force Majeure on La Porte LLDPE
September 03, 2021

LyondellBasell ended the Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) Force Majeure (FM) at its La Porte facility in Texas this week. The company said in a letter to customers that effective September 3, it was ending the FM.

A FM will still be in place for Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) at the La Porte facility.

Although an FM was being lifted on LLDPE, LyondellBasell said PE supply remains limited and it would apply a sales control program until further notice to help facilitate supply and demand.

LyondellBasell declared FM on its resins back in February along with several other suppliers in the aftermath of Winter Storm Uri, which severely impacted production and logistics for much of this year. At least four other producers are still on FM or sales allocation/control programs for PE.
