Intertape Polymer Group Announces South Carolina Expansion
06/09/2021

Intertape Polymer Group (IPG), a packaging and protective solutions company that supplies to resellers and commercial end-users, announced plans to expand its operations in Richland County, South Carolina. The $20 million expansion is expected to be completed over the next five years and will grow its current facility and curbside recyclable paper mailer operations, adding approximately 135 new jobs.

The company said the expansion of the Richland County facility is driven by its new and existing business.

IPG's announcement for the South Carolina facility is the latest in a series of expansions the company has undertaken this year.

In January, the company said it was expanding its manufacturing operations at its facility in Danville, Virginia, to increase its e-retail packaging, coatings, and films. The Danville expansion will add 30,000 square feet to its plant, creating 50 new jobs as part of a four-year $45 million investment project.

In March, IPG entered the next phase of its expansion plans at its manufacturing facility, Capstone, located in Karoli, India. IPG committed approximately $10 million to invest in the expansion project to increase production to support its growth strategy within the building and construction industry, including lumber wrap and synthetic roof underlayment. The new expansion phase will advance the project to the mid-stage of its planned maturity, expected to be completed in Q2 2022.

IPG develops, manufactures, and sells paper and film-based pressure-sensitive and water-activated tapes, polyethylene, and specialized polyolefin films, protective packaging, engineered coated products, and packaging machinery for industrial and retail use. The company employs approximately 3,500 workers, with operations in 31 locations, including 21 manufacturing facilities in North America, four in Asia, and one in Europe.
